Logistics Case Study

Paints Distributor

This customer distributes a wide range of products for one of the World's leading paints manufacturers. Products are shipped all over Europe from their depots around the UK.

They were required to produce synthetic A4 labels containing a mixture of fixed and variable text, logos and bar codes in a warehouse environment. The printers needed to be able to withstand the inevitable knocks and scrapes and still be able to produce scannable labels of the very highest quality.

Initially they experimented with laser printers but they were simply not robust enough, laser printers being primarily designed for office use. In addition, the high temperatures used to print the images meant that the label adhesive would often bleed from the A4 sheets and damage the printer rollers and drum.

Our solution was to install rugged Zebra 220XiIIIPlus thermal transfer printers. They fit the bill perfectly. A 220XiIIIPlus is able to produce A4 labels, in convenient roll form, at very high volumes, 24x7. By using genuine Zygology labels and ribbons the customer can be sure of the integrity of the printed image.
